How Auto Maintenance Service Saves You Money
Regularly changing the oil in your car or truck is essential to maintain the overall health of your vehicle and ensure it lasts as long as possible. An important part of car maintenance, let's look at five reasons why regular oil changes are necessary:1. Engine Lubrication
Oil lubricates your vehicle's engine, allowing all pistons, valves and other engine parts to move at their designated speeds without wearing on the engine. Dirty or not enough oil will dramatically increase wear on your engine and shorten its lifespan significantly, as it results in engine friction. This friction increases the engine's operating temperature as well.2. Operating Temperature
Since the moving parts of your vehicle's engine create heat, it's necessary to change the oil and therefore regulate engine temperature. Fresh oil absorbs engine heat.3. Engine Sludge
The combination of dirt, oil/dirty oil and engine wear particles creates engine "sludge," which leaves your engine susceptible to overheating among other damage. Your vehicle will also run less efficiently. Regular changing of oil removes this sludge and allows your car or truck to function properly.4. Leaks
While not a common issue, gasoline and coolant can sometimes leak into oil. The only way to tell if this is happening to your vehicle is through regular oil changes, as such leaks contaminate oil and eventually result in severe engine damage.5. Clogged Filters
When you take your vehicle in for an oil change, the service professional will also replace your car's filter. The filter prevents sludge from reaching your engine and causing damage, however it cannot perform its job properly if clogged with dirt, old oil and other particles. This seriously decreases the amount of 'good oil' reaching your engine, which causes wear and other problems.
