Did you know that your car uses a number of fluid to operate - way more than just gasoline. These unique liquids are scientifically designed to help ensure your car continues to run safely, efficiently and reliably. It is important that you pay attention to your vehicle's maintenance needs, including fluid exchange services. The following are the most common fluid services your vehicle will need.
The most common fluid service required by your vehicle is the oil change. Most vehicles require an oil change every 3,000 to 5,000 miles to ensure that the engine remains properly lubrication. Never put off oil changes, as this could lead to catastrophic engine failure.
The cooling system, which includes the radiator, water pump, thermostat and numerous other parts, utilizes a special fluid called coolant, AKA antifreeze. This liquid needs to be drained and refilled from time to time to ensure that it is free of contaminants that could prevent the system from operating as designed.
Transmission Fluid Flush
Transmission fluid provides the necessary lubrication inside the transmission to ensure smooth gear shifts. Transmission service, which includes the transmission fluid flush, is generally needed every 30,000 miles, but be sure to check your owner's manual to see how often your car needs it.
Power Steering Flush
If power steering fluid is left unchanged for too long it could result in damage to the power steering pump. If this pump fails it will result in your vehicle becoming very difficult to control, particularly when cornering sharply.
The differential is a key component in getting the power created by the engine to the wheels. It too uses a special fluid to ensure that its gears remain lubricated. Don't put off differential flushes, as dirty fluid could result in major damage.
